The Cabinet may issue resolutions to reduce working hours for certain industries or jobs with special conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The law also states that employees are entitled to <\/span><b>at least one hour of rest<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if they work more than five consecutive hours, and this break is not counted as part of the official working hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>When Are Working Hours Considered \u201cOvertime\u201d?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any hours worked <\/span><b>beyond the official working hours<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are considered overtime, provided that they are performed <\/span><b>at the request of the employer or with their explicit approval<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overtime may also apply if an employee works on official rest days or public holidays, such as Fridays or Eid holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Employee Rights for Overtime Hours in the UAE<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the UAE labor law, an employee has the right to one of two forms of compensation for overtime:<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>1. Rest Days in Lieu<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alternatively, the employer and employee can agree to grant <\/span><b>paid rest days<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in exchange for overtime hours, provided that the rest is <\/span><b>proportionate to the time and effort spent<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Working on Official Rest Days<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If an employee works on their weekly rest day (e.g., Friday), the employer must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"
